LIVING DIFFERENTLY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

What changes have you experienced based on COVID-19?
Covid-19 has caused many changes for my family and me. I am due in early May with our first child, and in a time where we should be excited, we are faced with fear. Weekly doctor appointments have turned into virtual phone calls, educational pregnancy classes have turned into online meetings, and events to celebrate the upcoming birth of our child have been cancelled. We’re ecstatic to show off our new bundle of joy to family and friends, and we must figure out different ways of doing so.

What is a challenge for you right now?
Something challenging that has come from these changes has been adjusting to a stay-at-home lifestyle. Instead of being able to go out to eat, we cook every meal. Instead of stopping by the grocery store for miscellaneous items here and there, we get by with what we have and make as few trips as possible.

What is something positive that has come from this?
Something positive that has come from these changes is that I work for a great company that has allowed me to work from home. I can continue to earn a paycheck and help provide for my family, which is very important as we prepare for the arrival of our first baby.

How are you supporting others?
While maintaining our social distancing, we show gratitude to others with simple smiles and recognize that we’re all in this together. We are doing our best to support small, local businesses by purchasing take-out food, grocery supplies and even flowers, also utilizing curb-side pickup.

What inspires you during this challenging time?
My inspiration during this challenging time is my family and my soon-to-be-born child.

Can you offer any advice for others to get through this?
Stay positive, stay home as much as possible and wash your hands often. We will get through this!
